Peter Rabbit first appeared in an illustrated letter sent to a boy in 1893. Peter Rabbit can be very naughty and does the opposite of what ever his mother says to do! Peter Rabbit loves eating and running - away from Mr. McGregor! Beatrix Potter was best known for children's books featuring characters such as in The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Potter died on 22 December 1943, and left almost all of her property to the National Trust. Her books continue to sell well throughout the world, in multiple languages. Her stories have been retold in various formats including a ballet, films, and in animation.
